Emmerdale villain set for 'shocking return' 10 years after exit in 'explosive' scenes

Emmerdale is set to air a big return later this year according to reports, as one villain is thought to be making an "explosive" comeback after 10 years away.

The former resident is set to "shock" one villager in particular as he heads back to the village for a mystery reason.

Thomas King, the son of killer Carl King, will apparently head back to Emmerdale and reunite with his uncle Jimmy King.

Jimmy will be stunned to see his nephew again, 10 years after he caused havoc for other residents including Belle and Chas Dingle.

While it is yet to be disclosed what has brought Thomas back after so long, and given how things went the last time, it has been revealed he brings "chaos" with him, according to a source.

The storyline has been described as "explosive", with fans yet to find out if he is as evil as his late father Carl.

Speaking to The Sun, a source revealed: "Tom’s return is going to be explosive. He shocks his uncle Jimmy when he returns to the village and it’s not clear why he’s back.

"Fans will be glued to their screens watching Tom’s comeback unfold — and his presence could cause chaos.

"They will all be asking if he’s as evil as his dad Carl and wondering why he’s returned."

Newcomer James Chase has reportedly been signed up to play the returning character, while Emmerdale has yet to announce this or the character's return.

When Thomas was last in the village he stalked and harassed Carl's ex Chas, after she was thought to have murdered his dad.

He also dated Belle despite their families being against the romance, leading to a plan to run away together. Eventually he changed his mind and left without her and hasn't been seen since.

As for Carl, fans of the show will remember he was killed off during a live episode when serial killer Cameron Murray attacked him.

Chas had attacked him shortly before this after he tried to rape her, while Carl also killed his father Tom in 2006.

The Mirror has reached out to Emmerdale for comment.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
