Emmerdale viewers stunned by sudden change to village amid Caleb and Nicky twist

Emmerdale viewers were loving a change to the scenery on the ITV soap during Monday night's episode.

While a mixture of weather saw sunshine, showers and heavy winds on Monday evening across the UK, in the Dales it was snowing.

Heavy snow covered the soap location in scenes that aired, with Caleb Miligan and Leyla Harding caught out in the snowfall.

As Caleb returned to the graveyard later in the episode, shortly after Kim Tate was walking through the cemetery, there was once again heavy snow covering the trees and the ground.

As viewers know filming takes place weeks in advance, with scenes airing on screen often filmed around five to six weeks prior to transmission.

That didn't stop viewers being amazed by the sudden appearance of snow on the soap on Monday, given it wasn't snowing in real life.

The snow hit Leeds and other areas in early March, and even halted filming briefly as it caused huge disruptions across the UK.

Taking to Twitter, viewers shared their surprise at suddenly seeing the snow as others recalled the snowfall that took place last month.

One viewer tweeted: "When was this filmed there’s snow all of a sudden."

Another fan said: "Wow snow in @emmerdale," as a third viewer tweeted: "Look at that snow!"

A fourth fan commented: "Love the snow appearing in this week's #Emmerdale episodes." while a fifth said: "Snow in April."

The comments kept on coming too with one viewer pointing out: "All the tweets about the snow in April when this was clearly filmed about 2 months ago!!!"

Another agreed: "Goes to show this were filmed 5 weeks ago cos of the snow we had."

Filming had to be suspended on the set in March as the heavy snowfall hit the studio and caused disruption.

Some filming was able to go ahead, like the graveyard scenes, with cast members sharing snaps from the set on social media.

The scenes come amid a new twist for Caleb and Kim, with a discovery on Monday night leave Kim panicked.

Fans learned Caleb was the secret son of Kim's ex Frank Tate in a recent episode, and that newcomer Nicky was his son.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
