Emmerdale fans will know that The Woolpack has recently come into new joint ownership in the soap.

Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) is now a co-owner of the show's famous pub due to a lack of funds from the previous sole owners Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock).

How did Al Chapman buy The Woolpack?

The famous Woolpack pub on Emmerdale has come into money troubles over the last few months as it wasn’t breaking even.

As a result, Al - being the business shark that he is - took this as the opportunity to join in with ownership of the pub.

However, Chapman’s sneaky tactics have led to his latest drastic plan - to turn The Woolpack into a block of flats.

Viewers saw Al rally Emmerdale residents in Wednesday’s episode to discuss his plans and try to gather support.

Chas’ business rival Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler), owner of the café, surprised everyone by defending The Woolpack and arguing it should stay open, leaving Al dumbfounded with a defeated facial expression.

Chas also let him know that she’s prepared to fight to the very end to keep The Woolpack open.

Emmerdale fans react to plans for The Woolpack

Emmerdale fans also seemed to be happy with the residents’ unanimous vote for The Woolpack to stay open.

@Jamey_Giddens tweeted: ‘’Nicola has me blubbering. Save The Woolpack!’’

While @GrocottJanice wrote: ‘’You can't have Emmerdale village without The Woolpack.’’

Al seemed "obsessed" with the flats idea, @delucaevans added on Twitter.

However they also recognised The Woolpack's shortcomings, adding: "’I don't want The Woolpack to go but it 100% needs new owners and has done for years."
