Emmerdale fans have questioned the soap's latest storyline claiming it is similar to its rivals - especially Corrie.

Viewers have hit out the ITV soap claiming the Emmerdale and Coronation Street storylines are copying each other and that they could even share writers, given the similarities.

The theory comes after Marshall and Cathy were both seen swigging a bottle of a vodka that was stolen from Bob's bar in Wednesday (April 26) episode of Emmerdale.

The storyline struck concern with viewers who worried for the pairs wellbeing after Cathy failed to turn up to school and instead stole a bottle of vodka from Bob's bar to drink with Marshall.

Cathy had thrown a tantrum after sneaking home from school, despite it being exam day, when she bumped into Brenda - she claimed she was going for a walk but instead stole a bottle of vodka and took Marshall along for the trip. Marshall had been having troubled of his own with the anniversary of his mums death creeping up.

Viewers have hit out claiming the two soaps are using the same writers.

@JoOshaughnessy3 added: "Why do the soaps copy each other? You have Amy #eastenders Amy #corrie Marshall #emmerdale all with the same #storyline about drinking alcohol"
