Most soap characters work within walking distance to where they live, and Emmerdale is no different.
With the pub, the café, the farm just a number of workplaces, there are plenty of spots in the village to get a job.
But the hiring process of one Dales star has left viewers baffled.

Samson Dingle landed a job at David's shop within minutes of walking through the door. And he wasn't even hired by the boss.
The 15-year-old arrived as Kerry despaired over grandson Kyle.
Tuesday's episode saw the Geordie grandmother frantic as she had to mind the shop while Kyle, nine, lay in a hospital bed.
Explaining that owner Eric was "off antique shopping", she was desperate to cut her shift short. So when Samson walked in asking about work experience, she was all too keen to give him a job.
Kerry said: "Of course, I'll give you a quick tour, show you how everything works and you can start now", before removing her work apron.
But with Samson aged just 15, and Kerry in no position to hire a new member of staff, some Emmerdale fans had a few questions.
Mike Priestley said: "How easy is it to get a job in soapland. Samson just walks in the shop and boom jobs yours"
Chris1968E said: "When did Kerry buy the shop to start employing anyone?"
Sonia Stephenson said: "Samson working in the shop on his own. Not old enough to sell alcohol"
Ryan Glendenning said: "Why are all the kids applying for work in #Emmerdale? First Noah now Samson they ain't even experienced?"
Later in the episode, Samson's dad Sam and grandad Zack used his new position to help themselves to beer, bread and meat from the shop.
As Samson protested, Sam said: "Call it perks of the job".
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV and ITV Hub with an additional episode at 8pm on Thursdays
