Emmerdale stars Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins 'won't be back on screen until 2022 after row'

Emmerdale stars Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins are likely to be off-screen until the new year following their reported filming rift.

Last week, Emmerdale bosses were forced to address rumours of a fallout between Matthew and Isabel as they filmed stunts for their big Super Soap Week - they play David Metcalfe and Victoria Sugden respectively.

They are an on-screen couple in the soap but reportedly no love was lost between the pair during a tense day of filming.

The argument is said to have taken place at Tees Barrage water park in Stockton-on-Tees.

The incident has been played down by ITV and there have been Instagram posts from Isabel telling her followers how she loved working with Matthew while they filmed their Super Soap Week scenes.

Matthew and Isabel’s characters have been temporarily written out of the soap - although Emmerdale bosses have emphasised they haven’t been suspended.

The Sun reports the acting stars will not likely be seen in Emmerdale until 2022.

A source “It is very unlikely that Matthew and Isabel will be back on screen before Christmas.

"They have only just returned to the set, and as Emmerdale is filmed six weeks in advance, that puts their return date in January.

“It was a disappointment for the bosses and scriptwriters, who were planning for them to be a major part of Emmerdale’s Christmas storylines next month.

“But they of course understood that the appropriate enquiries needed to be made.”

The Emmerdale characters David and Victoria last appeared in the ITV soap on October 28.
