Emmerdale star says viewer theories about Chloe 'are wrong' as she teases secret

Emmerdale viewers have been speculating for weeks about newcomer Chloe Harris' true identity and backstory.

Many viewers have predicted that the mystery sister of Sarah Sugden's tragic heart donor, Gemma, might be hiding a secret.

Recent scenes saw the character revealed to be living in a mansion alone, as her family situation was explained - with it also confirmed existing character Kerry Wyatt is the family cleaner.

It's now known that her dad is a criminal and is currently in prison, while her mother is dead.

This twist has only sparked more speculation about her identity, with the latest theory being her dad is a past villain.

Now, speaking to The Mirror and other press, actress Jessie Elland who plays Chloe has had her say - and shared her surprise.

She suggested no one has guessed her "secret" yet, but could she be trying to throw viewers off the scent?

Jessie explained that while she was loving how invested the viewers were, they were yet to work out the truth.

She said: "I've seen quite a few of [the theories]. I think I have seen all of them, not by choice as I don't go looking for that stuff on social media, but my friends have been sending me them.

"My family are very keen to put it all in the family group chat!"

Jessie went on: "My dad and uncle have called me 'Creepy Chloe' a few times because that has been in quite a few articles.

"As far as a favourite, I think all of them are good to be honest. There's some juicy theories out there and it's fun to see people guessing, and trying to investigate and connect the dots, and bringing up old storylines, but I have to say that no one has got it right yet, but they are fun to read."

On what the secret really is, she teased: "Oh, I think they will just have to watch and see!"

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
