Former Emmerdale actress Louisa Clein claims that she has received abuse from strangers after starring in a child grooming storyline.
The 42-year-old actress, who played Maya Stepney in the soap between 2018 and 2019, assumed the role of a child groomer who had a relationship with 15-year-old Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant).
However, as a result of the difficult scenes, Louise has been approached by strangers in the street that have given her grief.
According to The Sun, Louisa recalled one awkward moment that she was called a 'b****' in front of her young son while innocently trying to do her shopping.
“I did have a situation where I was with my little son, who was two," she said.
"I was in a shop and someone came up to me and went, ‘You are such a b****’.
She added: “I was like, ‘You know it’s not real? I’m with my son and he just thinks some strange lady has come up to me and said something mean’.
Aside from that encounter, Louisa has also had several men mock her following the Emmerdale storyline.
“I’ve had a few slightly older, unattractive men shouting at me, going, ‘Oh I’m too old for you!’" Louisa continued.
“My response is usually that it’s not your age that’s the problem here.”
Louisa's grooming storyline was one of many gripping episodes that that actress took part in during her time on the ITV soap.
However, at the end of 2019, it was revealed that Louisa was leaving the show. Her character, teacher Maya, was jailed for a year after being found guilty after sexually abusing her student Jacob Gallagher.
That same year, she was also awarded Best Bad Girl at the Inside Soap Awards 2019.
Following her role on the show, it appears that Louisa has largely stepped away from the spotlight and doesn't appear to have any other credits in the preceding years.
