Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson to host special Leeds event after life-changing diagnosis admission

Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson will host a special event in Leeds after opening up about life-changing perimenopause diagnosis.

Earlier this week, we brought you news of Natalie Anderson, best-known for her role as Alicia Gallagher in the long running ITV soap, opening up about the struggles and challenges she has faced in recent years. In time, this resulted in the acting star being diagnosed with perimenopause.

According the the NHS website perimenopause is when you have symptoms before your periods have stopped. You reach menopause when you have not had a period for 12 months.

Both the menopause and perimenopause can cause symptoms like anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods. These symptoms can start years before your periods stop and carry on afterwards.

Speaking of her symptoms, Natalie said: “I was like, ‘What is going on here?’ I was thinking to myself, ‘You know what? This isn’t like me. I’m really sharp and I can learn scripts quickly’. It felt like I had ‘baby brain’. However, ‘baby brain’ and ‘brain fog’ are treated very differently — you have to ask why.

On Thursday, April 13, Natalie, who is known for her podcast The Capsule, is bringing the Peri-Meno Meet Up to the Leeds Marriott Hotel. The evening will be focused on myth-busting perimenopause and menopause. The festivities will run between 7pm and 10pm.

It will feature question and answer sessions with an expert panel, styling demos and shopping and networking at the ‘menopause marketplace’. The event hopes to provide a safe space for women to come together and have fun while breaking the stigma around this transitional phase of women’s health.

Tickets for the Peri-Meno Meet Up cost £35. This includes a welcome drink and gift bag. You can find out more and buy them here.
