Emmerdale star Dean Andrews to 'beg' soap bosses to let him rejoin new Life On Mars series

Emmerdale star Dean Andrews has confessed he’ll have to beg Emmerdale bosses to allow him to leave the show so he can rejoin the rumoured Life On Mars revival.

Dean, 57, from Rotherham, plays Will Taylor in Emmerdale with his character enjoying some rather meaty storylines in recent months. Before Emmerdale, he had a starring role in BBC police drama Life On Mars and its follow up Ashes To Ashes.

He played copper Ray Carling in the popular shows about injured police officers waking up back in time. Ashes To Ashes concluded in 2010 and it seemed to bring an end to the tales of the iconic DIC Gene Hunt and his team.

Although, there’s strong talk it could be revived with many of the original cast and writers rumoured to be onboard.

Talking to This Morning, Dean gave an update and informed Emmerdale fans what it could mean for his role in the ITV soap.

Dean said: "There's a very, very good chance of that happening (a new series from the Life On Mars/Ashes To Ashes team).

"The writers Matt Graham and Ashley Pharoah are in the process of writing four or five episodes, and getting everybody back together who wants to come back.

"I believe Phil (Glenister) and John (Simm) are very, very excited about it, Daniel Mays, myself... they are hoping everyone wants to come back, and they want to make the story back in the 70s and the 80s and the modern day.

"I’ve just got to try and beg Emmerdale at some point in my life, if they still want me."

We’d imagine any Emmerdale exit would potentially only be temporary.

We’ll bring your more when we get it.
