Emmerdale star Charley Webb hits back after being criticised for her son's long hair

Charley Webb has furiously hit back after being criticised for her son's long hair.

The Emmerdale actress, who plays Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap , was forced to defend her two eldest sons - Buster, nine, and Bowie, three - after receiving cruel comment telling her she should cut the boys long hair.

It came after Charley posted a selfie of on-screen mum Emma Atkins alongside Buster and Bowie with other comments including 'they look like girls'.

Taking aim at the comments, the 31-year-old returned to Instagram with a photo of eldest Buster wearing a T-shirt which reads "Long hair don't care #Boy."

Alongside the post, the ITV star wrote: "I get asked so many times on here why my kids have got long hair," she started a lengthy caption beneath it.

"'Why don't you cut it?' Or, 'They look like girls'. The answer is really simple, because we like it and more importantly they like it."

"I absolutely don't feel like I need to explain it to anyone who has an opinion but I just think life would be so much easier if we all just focused on our own lives. Don't let my kids hair worry you."

Charley then told her followers that those who judge others style of parenting should "keep their opinions to themselves" alongside the classic saying, "if you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all."

The Bury-actress continued: "I think people think they have a right to have an opinion because of social media. Maybe you do.

"But try keeping it to yourself, it's not important to us what you think of how our kids look. Or how we look. Or their names or whatever it is you might want to comment on.

"I was always taught, if you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Try practicing it peeps. There's enough awful stuff in the world without being mean to each other."

Charley then defiantly finished the post in a nod to the photo: "They've got another t shirt that says, I'm a boy, I've just got better hair than you. True dat."

Many of Charley's celeb pals took to the post to compliment the youngster and his mum.

Giovanna Fletcher, author and wife of McFly's Tom, said: "Well said!!!! Also fully supportive of the other tee..... look at that SHINE!! I'm jealous!"

"Wow he's the double of you," added former Corrie star Lucy Jo Hudson, "little stunner he is xxx."

Catherine Tyldesley, Michelle Keegan and Sheree Murphy all also offered their support.

Charley and her husband, Emmerdale co-star Matthew Wolfenden, welcomed their third son Ace Gene in July following a dramatic birth .
