Emmerdale star Amy Walsh 'gobsmacked' as she announces pregnancy with EastEnders actor

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh says she is 'gobsmacked' as she announces she's pregnant.

The actress, who plays Tracy Metcalfe in the ITV soap, is expecting her first child with her EastEnders actor boyfriend Toby Alexander-Smith.

Toby, who is best known for playing murderer Grey in the BBC soap, and Amy first went public with their relationship last Christmas when they were pictured on the red carpet at the opening night of A Christmas Carol in London.

The pair met in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing back in 2019 when Amy was supporting Emmerdale co-star Kelvin Fletcher and Toby was cheering on co-star Emma Barton.

Announcing the happy news, Amy, who is the sister of Girls Aloud star Kimberly Walsh, told OK! magazine how she feels 'incredibly lucky' after fearing she'd struggle to get pregnant.

"It feels as though the way everything happened was meant to be," she said. "I thought I might struggle with fertility, so for pregnancy to happen quite easily and when I wanted – I was gobsmacked. We feel incredibly lucky..."

Amy, 34, was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries when she was 20.

"I always thought falling pregnant was going to be a battle," she added to OK. "Toby knew how worried I was, especially as I’m a bit older.

"I did wonder if it would ever happen for me, so it feels like a blessing."

They said it came as a shock as despite trying for a baby, they thought it'd be a lengthy process.

But Amy fell pregnant after two months and their baby is due at Christmas time.

Toby added: "There’s never a perfect time. You could always think, 'We could do with a bigger house or investing more time in our careers,' but if you’ve met the right person then that’s it."
