Adam Thomas was rushed to hospital on Wednesday after dropping a weight on his face while working out at the gym.
The former Emmerdale star revealed all to his Instagram followers after his twin brother Scott rushed him to A&E, where he spent three hours before being informed he’d have to endure an overnight stay.
The I'm a Celebrity.. Get Me Out of Here! star shared a selfie from his hospital bed and appealed to anyone else who had suffered a similar gym-related injury, joking that when they make themselves known people will know they are an ‘idiot’.
Uploading a photo of his swollen eye and cut face, Adam, 30, said: “Not sure that everyone knows yet but today I dropped a weight on my face! And then 3hrs in a&e with this guy @scottyspecial.
“Don’t know which one was worse haha but am glad he was there by my side,” he joked.
Adam documented the incident by uploading a series of photos to his Instagram story.
He added: “If you too have dropped a weight on your face please get in touch as it’s hard to talk to anyone about my experience unless you’ve actually been through it.
“I know you're out there and I know you're ashamed but it’s about time we spoke out and let others know that if your an idiot... gyms are dangerous places.”
Tens of thousands of people liked the post, and he has received plenty of comments from well wishers and fans recalling their gym fails.
Adam’s other brother Ryan, who played Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street, admitted: “I love you so much Adam to be fair something I would do”
Referencing Game of Thrones, Scott joked: “Today is going to be a good day."
“No it’s not Jon Snow.”
Adam left Emmerdale last year after eight years in the role as Adam Barton.
