Emmerdale spoilers: Vinny 'killed' by dad Paul after kidnapping lie is uncovered

Emmerdale's Vinny Dingle is left with his life hanging in the balance as abusive dad Paul Ashdale gets violent yet again as Vinny discovers the truth - that Paul faked his kidnapping for sympathy.

As they all plan for Mandy Dingle’s hen and Paul’s stag, Lydia Dingle’s doubts about Paul are evident especially after he threatened her.

Vinny overhears a conversation and quizzes Paul, who puts his foot in it by getting the details of his kidnapping story mixed up.

Vinny is left feeling suspicious, and the next day, hr tells Liv about the inconsistencies in Paul’s kidnapping story.

Mandy’s hen do is soon getting underway, and at Paul's stag do, Vinny seizes on a moment to tell Paul he’s seen the van he was kidnapped in around the scrapyard.

Paul panics and makes a call to Connor, and Vinny having overhears and learns the kidnapping was faked, with Paul and staging it to con Liv out of her inheritance.

When Vinny declares he is going to tell Mandy the truth, Paul’s demeanour suddenly hardens.

A terrified Vinny backtracks as an unhinged Paul pummels him to the ground.

Vinny lies unconscious with blood trickling from his mouth, and Paul stares at him, convinced he as killed him.

Elsewhere, Will Taylor is worried as Harriet Finch vanishes, and seeing a police car pull up, he panics.

A stressed Harriet is with PC Swirling as she has been at the station ranting about ‘a body’.

Will lies for her and says she was speaking about the exhumation, and Swirling leaves satisfied.

Harriet remains insistent to confess to her crimes and asks Will to punish her to silence her and allow her to repent for her sins - is Will capable of doing what she’s asking?

Will explains to Dawn Taylor that Harriet has gone away on a church retreat, but he is clearly uneasy as he hides Harriet’s mobile phone in a drawer.

Will convinces Dawn to let him move back in due to Harriet’s absence - but he heads down to the cellar where Harriet sits in a self-imposed exile, with only her Bible and some food.

When he asks Harriet how long it will last, and she says she cannot give him an exact answer as it is a question of faith.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
