Emmerdale spoilers: Liv Flaherty receives heartbreaking diagnosis after mystery collapses

Emmerdale is set to tug on the heartstrings tonight as teenager Liv Flaherty receives an epilepsy diagnosis after collapsing several times.

Fans have watched with concern as Liv - brought to life by actress Isobel Steele - collapsed a number of times in recent weeks, prompting theories that she's suffering from a mystery illness.

And her efforts to keep the episodes a secret from her brother Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) saw her strike a bargain with Paul Ashdale (Reece Dinsdale) to keep his gambling issues out of the light if he didn't blab to Aaron.

Tonight, though, will see it all come out as Aaron is beside himself with worry as Liv is told by doctors that she has epilepsy.

His worries will spike again later in the week when she suffers another seizure.

As they nervously await tonight's tense and emotional scenes, fans have been speculating about how Aaron will react to the knowledge that Paul and Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) kept it from him.

Meanwhile, actress Isobel has been teasing the storyline and how Liv's relationship with Vinny is damaged as she hides Paul's gambling problems.

Fans are wondering how Aaron would react (ITV)

"I'm really looking forward to seeing how Vinny and Liv's relationship develops naturally and is put to the test," she said.

"I'm also excited to see how Liv deals with her newly diagnosed epilepsy and how this affects her confidence as a young woman."

In difficult scenes before Christmas, Liv insisted she was going to start driving lessons, leading to Paul to intervene and tell her she can't.

But after she refused to listen, Paul went to Aaron and told him about her seizure, leaving Liv furious.

And Liv's not the only Emmerdale teen to face strife in coming weeks.

Soap boss Jane Hudson has teased "unexpected" twists for characters like Sarah Sugden, Noah Dingle and newcomer Ethan as the youngsters take centre stage in 2021.

* Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
