A returning Emmerdale star is set to deliver heartbreak for a village favourite.
Next week, Charity Dingle, played by Emma Atkins, will discover former flame Vanessa Woodfield has a new girlfriend.
As Emmerdale viewers know, Vanessa, played by Michelle Hardwick, has been absent from the village for many months. This is because Michelle has been on maternity leave from the ITV soap.

The storyline to cover her absence saw Vanessa away from the village to care for her sick mother, while Vanessa herself had also battled cancer.

Our colleagues at the Daily Mirror report Vanessa stayed in touch with Charity through video calls during this period and in October last year it was confirmed Charity had adopted Vanessa's son Johnny.
However, Vanessa seemed distant at this time and an upset Charity kissed Mackenzie Boyd, with Vanessa's sister Tracy taking a photo of the moment.
Vanessa, who since received an all-clear from her cancer, ended her relationship with Charity.
In scenes set to air next week, Charity will learn Vanessa has moved on and has a new partner. Tracy tells Charity of her sister’s new relationship.
The news comes as the soap prepares to welcome back actor Michelle. Teasing her return on Twitter, Michelle shared a tweet from co-star Dominic Brunt who plays her on-screen colleague Paddy Kirk.
