Emmerdale sparks recasting confusion as fans say April 'aged three years overnight' in return to soap

Emmerdale fans were pleased to see a familiar face return to the village last night.

However, they were stunned as she appeared to 'age three years overnight'.

Marlon Dingle's daughter April Windsor was back on screens in the ITV soap after many of the younger cast members filmed less during the pandemic.

So fans were happy to see young actress Amelia Flanagan, 12, back in the soap after joining in 2014 as the daughter of late character Donna Windsor.

It was a bit of a frantic arrival as she unexpectedly found herself being screamed at by stepbrother Ellis Chapman, who continues to be gutted by his dad, Al's, latest mistakes.

But viewers were more distracted by her return and her 'grown up' look - with some even thinking she had been recast.

"No way is April 11 years old suddenly #Emmerdale," tweeted one.

Another said: "April has got some sass over lockdown. I can see her perfecting a hair flick/mic drop soon. #Emmerdale."

"#emmerdale April aged 3 years overnight," a third added.

A fourth commented: "Crikey!! Almost didn’t recognise April there. #Emmerdale."

"Either April has been recasted on the quiet or the actress has grown hugely during lockdown! #Emmerdale," a confused fan added.
