The pair left the dales in 2012, Carl was dramatically murdered by Cameron Murray (Dominic Power), while Kelsey's character, Scarlet, emigrated to Canada that same year, following a relationship with Adam Barton (Adam Thomas).

Carl first appeared in the village in 2004, and quickly established himself as a troublemaker and a bit of a lady's man.

He was brutally murdered with a brick by Cameron in tense scenes, and was later was found by Adam and then-girlfriend Victoria.

Meanwhile, Scarlett, first appeared in 2007, and stuck around after Carl's murder five years later.

Later returning to Canada after the reading of her brother's will threatened to expose deep divisions in the village.

And it won't be a first for Actor, Tom, who played the lead role in 42nd Street after his gruesome Emmerdale exit, a gig that took him to the Royal Variety stage in 2017.

Meanwhile multi-talent, Kelsey, appeared on The Voice, with Emmerdale co-star Nick Miles, who plays Jimmy King, watching in the audience.
