Emmerdale shock for Belle Dingle as serial killer Lachlan White 'returns'

Belle Dingle is set to be rocked by an unwanted face from her past when serial killer Lachlan White 'returns'. While viewers of the ITV soap won't see him in the physical sense, Belle will be transported right back five years when she's delivered some news about her ex.

Half a decade has passed since the character, played by Eden Taylor-Draper, almost died after he kidnapped her. Lachlan was obsessed with Belle and before both gave in to their feeling for one another, Lachlan did all he could to make her jealous.

But soon, Belle's cousin Aaron Dingle learnt what awful things Lachlan had been up to including throwing a remote at his baby cousin Seb, wishing his sleeping grandfather Lawrence White dead and when confronted by Robert Sugden, Lachlan threatened him and nearly crashed his car just to freak him out.

He later disappeared, leaving Belle a 'goodbye' voicemail leaving her concerned for his safety. But he returned a few days later and Belle decided to forgive him. However, after agreeing to move in with him, Lachlan's mum Chrissie calls round at Wishing Well Cottage to speak to Belle, telling her that Lachlan has serious mental health problems and when he ran away, he was really hiding out in the attic.

It wasn't until later that his killer crimes were finally exposed when he abducted her and tried to force her into going on the run with him. Belle managed to get away and this seemingly marked the end of the ordeal in 2018 as armed police arrived and had him arrested.

But the terror didn't end there, as Lachlan terrorised Belle from behind bars and even sent his father to take revenge on her family. And now, five years on, Belle gets a shock next week with new spoilers revealing PC Swirling has some news for her.

Belle, who is now in a relationship with her ex Tom King, is told Lachlan is being moved to another prison soon. Worried, she opens up to pal Vinny Dingle about her anxieties around Lachlan's prison transferral, fearing he might try something again. Worried about overwhelming Tom, she makes the decision to keep the information from him but books to see her therapist.

As the week goes on her anxieties are triggered, including accidentally by Jai Sharma, and as she struggles with the news Vinny does his best to comfort her when he finds her in a panicked state. The next day, Rhona unwittingly reveals to Tom how Belle’s dealt with a lot of trauma and he’s worried about what she’s neglected to tell him.

Before long, Tom demands the full truth from Rhona and Jai but is concerned he’s been unable to reach Belle. When Chas hears she’s gone off alone both Chas and Tom head off in search of her. The weight of their shared history is awkward so Tom apologises for what happened before he left the village. Soon they spot Belle alone in the woods and fear her mental health has taken a turn for the worse.
