The first of Emmerdale’s special lockdown episodes airs this evening and here’s what you can expect.
The last episode of the ITV soap ended on a huge cliffhanger, as Andrea Tate’s (Anna Nightingale) fate was revealed, but viewers are going to have to wait a little bit longer to find out the conclusion.
Emmerdale was forced to halt production back in March because of the coronavirus pandemic. Airing of episodes was cut down to three editions a week to keep the soap on the television for as long as possible.
Now, the soap is set to broadcast lockdown episodes to see how their favourites are coping. In tonight’s edition, airing at 7pm on ITV1, Sam and Lydia Dingle (James Hooton and Karen Blick) take centre stage.
Sam and Lydia are both stuck on their own as Samson is stuck on his school trip, and they’ve turfed both Mandy and Vinny out.
What to expect
Sam is seen being overprotective of Lydia and won’t allow her to leave the house, as he’s concerned for her health.
However, Lydia gets fed up with the same meal every night, and thus decides to do a click-and-collect, but when Sam learns what’s she’s done, he’s very upset.
Actress Karen Blick has spoken about the experience of creating the special and what it tells the audience about the popular characters.
She said: “I feel it has given us great insight into Lydia and Sam and we’ve had the space to explore the dynamics between these two characters.”
