Emmerdale's Wendy Posner's previous roles in the soap and in Coronation Street

It's a big week in Emmerdale for Wendy Posner as her ex-husband arrives in the village.

Bob Hope discovers Wendy has been lying to him and soon she admits she went to her ex-mother-in-law’s funeral.

We soon see they’re being watched by a hidden figure.

Before long, this shadowy figure Russ is grilling Ben Tucker for information on Wendy.

Russ is intrigued to learn Wendy will return in a few days.

But did you know the actress who plays Wendy, Susan Cookson, has previously appeared in Coronation Street alongside Gail Platt?

Remarkably, the soap actress has played four different Emmerdale characters, five parts on Doctors, two on Coronation Street and she's also been in Hollyoaks, reports the Mirror.

Susan is best known for playing much-loved Casualty doctor Maggie Coldwell from 2005 to 2009 and is now gracing our screens as Wendy - the mother of Victoria Sugden's rapist Lee.

Wendy was reviled by almost everyone in the village when she first turned up in July 2019 and started harassing Victoria, insisting she was lying about her horrifying ordeal at the hands of her son.

But she's undergone something of a character transformation over the last few months after finally admitting her son was a rapist and forming a closer bond with Victoria and her grandson.

She was Max's other granny, Marion, in Corrie (ITV)

It's actually not the first time Susan has rocked up in the village as she's played four separate characters in the last two decades.

Her debut came as an 'attendant' in 1993, then four years later she appeared in an episode as DC Fallon.

This was followed by a far more substantial role in the police as DI Judy Dove, appearing in seven episodes from December 2002 until January 2003.

And Susan has previously played a similar part as a devoted mum who blindly stood by her evil son in her role as Callum Logan's mum in Corrie back in 2015.

Once again, this wasn't her first Corrie job as Susan was cast as Mrs Briscoe for two episodes in 1998 before returning as Marion Logan 17 years later.

Marion was devastated when her son Callum vanished and got into a war with the Platts as she tried to take grandson Max away with her and spend time with Sarah's baby Harry.

However, when Marion returned after a three-year absence in 2019, her face was completely different as another actress had taken over the role.

Max's grandmother was played by The Bill star Kelly Peers and no official reason was given for Susan not returning.

However, she may have been unable to return due to her Emmerdale commitments as she is now a full-time cast member.
