Emmerdale's Samantha Giles calls for Meena plot to end as she admits to not watching soap

Emmerdale's Samantha Giles has called for the Meena serial killer storyline to end on the ITV soap.

The actress - who plays Bernice Blackstock on the ITV soap - is keen to see the current storyline come to an end, as she feels it is a "timely" moment for Meena to exit the village and let the residents get on with their lives.

Samantha also confessed she doesn't watch the show herself, something which she describes as "terrible" as she called for all the loose ends to be tied up in the serial killer storyline as the saga seemingly rumbles on.

"I think it is. It’s terrible, I’m in the show and I don’t really ever watch it, which is awful," she said on the Wonderbirds YouTube show.

"You know what it’s like, it’s that time when you’re either putting the kids to bed or you’re getting dinner or whatever, but I know that it’s very close to coming to a head. And I think it’s probably timely [the conclusion of Meena’s storyline]."

She added: "Lots of people have said that they’ve enjoyed it, but you know, come on, it’s time for it to end."

It comes after another Emmerdale star - actor Kevin Mathurin, who plays vicar Charles Anderson - teased there was still a lot more to come for the Meena Jutla storyline.

"This storyline is just plot twist after plot twist. I've read ahead and it's exciting, very exciting," he said recently, "It's going to be a great crescendo to an ongoing storyline. It feels like it's never-ending, but it's worth it!"

However, bosses have promised Meena will face some sort of "judgement day".

Meena has murdered several residents over the past 18 months (ITV)

"I think it's fair to say that judgement day for Meena is coming. But whether she'll get away with murder you're going to have to wait and find out," executive producer Jane Hudson teased to The Mirror and other press.

"There are still some more twists and turns to be had in this story. Some that you probably won't see coming but I think we can all agree that Meena can pretty much do anything."

She added: "But yes, Meena's judgement day is coming. It won't play out quite as you expect, there will be a lasting effect on a lot of the villagers but I think within the next few months, Meena will get what's coming with her."
