Emmerdale’s Paige Sandhu gives behind the scenes look at epic pub explosion

Emmerdale's Paige Sanhu, who plays murderous Meena Jutla, has shared how the huge pub explosion on Christmas Day was filmed.

An hour-long festive episode of Emmerdale saw Meena's sister, Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), confront her sibling after she caught her trying to plant heroin on love-rival Dawn Taylor.

But the pair soon found themselves lifeless, stuck under a pile of rubble, as the village's beloved Woolpack pub was blown up.

Actress Paige later shared a snap of her character on Instagram, laying in the rubble and covered in blood and cuts, and captioned it with a bomb emoji.

The soap star also shared some clips on her Instagram Stories, showing how the explosion was made and filmed.

The short video showed Rebecca pretending to slap Paige as they stood by the entrance to the pub with a blue blow-up mattress right behind them.

A loud bang was heard and then Rebecca was heard screaming as she and Paige threw themselves back safely onto the mattress.

Fans took to the comments on Paige's post to express their admiration for the soap.

Jay said: "Absolutely amazing scene! You were both incredible."

Alexander said: "Brilliant actress and brilliant episode tonight look forward too tomorrow."

Carla said: "What a fantastic episode. You're brilliant."

The official Emmerdale Instagram page also shared some behind-the-scenes videos which showed The Woolpack going up in flames.

They showed a clip of a countdown and then the explosion going off and filmed it from different angles.

They captioned the post: "We're sure you're all bereft to see your favourite Yorkshire pub go up in flames! But just in case, here it is again from multiple angles! #Emmerdale #BehindTheScenes #Christmas @itv @wearestv1."
