Paddy Dingle actor Dominic Brunt has taken a short break from Emmerdale

His character is currently enthralled in a dramatic storyline as Paddy has found out that his wife, Chas, has been cheating on him. Not only that, but her affair led to the death of her bit on the side, Al Chapman, and her brother Cain is in prison blamed for the murder he did not commit.

But now, actor Dominic is swapping acting for directing. The soap star appeared on ITV's Loose Women to talk about his latest venture, as he takes a break from Emmerdale.

Dominic has previously directed a number of horror films. He said his latest film, Wolf Manor, took a total of three and a half weeks to film, requiring his full attention.

While appearing on the ITV talk show, Dominic said that he has now been on the Emmerdale for 26 years. He explained that he was only supposed to play a short part, that was set to last for just a number of weeks.

He said: "I think they just kept forgetting to write me out." The actor added: "I never in my wildest dreams thought that I'd be able to stay there."
