Emmerdale's newcomer Parry Glasspool link to Liverpool, Hollyoaks past and family

Soap fans may spot a familiar face while watching Emmerdale tonight.

Parry Glasspool will be joining the cast of the Dales as drug dealing character Jason Denshaw. But it isn't the first time that Parry has starred in a soap.

The 30-year-old previously appeared in Hollyoaks and is best known for playing Harry Thompson on the soap for five years until 2019 when the character was written out. Harry was murdered by serial killer Breda McQueen in a surprising twist, with no one seeing it coming. Now, Parry is returning to the soap world for his next role, and will play drug dealer Jason Denshaw, Digital Spy reports.

Parry will apparently play Leyla's new drug dealer, after she's forced to seek other arrangements to get her drugs fix. Leyla is now struggling with the fact she has to find a new supplier for her cocaine fix after Suzy, who used to be her supplier, confides in her that she has decided to get clean. She is worried that if Suzy stops abusing drugs then she will not be able to get her regular fix. And that is where new character Jason comes in.

But when not acting, what does Parry get up to? We take a look at the actor's life off screen.

Link to Liverpool

Parry made the decision to move to Liverpool after being offered to participate in the main series of Hollyoaks. Since leaving the soap, he has remained in Merseyside and went on to join the theatre production, By The Waters of Liverpool.

The tour was supposed to take place from March until the end of May 2020. But due to the Covid 19 lockdown, the play was cancelled after only 2 weeks of production.

Family life

The former Hollyoaks actor is currently engaged to salon owner Paije Love. At the time of their engagement, in July 2020, Parry shared a video which showed his followers how he asked Paije to marry him.

He made her believe that they were filming a quiz for social media but in a sweet twist, the answers to the quiz then spelt out "will you marry me?"

Parry then got down on one knee and presented a shocked Paije with a ring, which reduced her to tears of joy as she accepted his proposal. He captioned the video: "How it went down... You know I had to film it somehow! (sic)"

The couple have since welcomed a little girl to the world, in June 2021, who they named Efa. The actor shared the news on Instagram with a sweet post showing their newborn baby's hand.

Not long after the birth, Parry publicly admired his fiancée on social media as he wrote: "Shoutout to the baby mama @paijelove who I'm honestly so proud of...2 weeks overdue, 27 hours of labour, 3 days no sleep and then bossing the hell out early motherhood! Here's to you and all the mums doing their thing!"

Famous brother

Parry isn't the only one with talent in his family. He is the older brother to sportsman Lloyd Glasspool.

Lloyd Glasspool is a British professional tennis player. He has a career high doubles ranking of No. 61 and a career high singles ranking of No. 282. During his career Glasspool has won one ATP title, sixteen ITF Futures titles, and in 2021 four ATP Challenger tournaments, in doubles.

Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub - except for this week where there is a schedule shakeup
