Emmerdale viewers finally learned why newcomer Mackenzie hated his estranged sister Moira Dingle so much, on Monday evening.
In the process, it led to Moira's dark past and shocking secret finally being exposed.
Viewers of the ITV soap have known for a few weeks that Moira was forced to flee her family when she was younger, for a mystery reason.
When her brother Mackenzie randomly showed up last week they also learned he hated her - and that they were estranged.
Moira has never mentioned him or her family, with no one even knowing he existed.
Now all has become clear finally, as Mackenzie unveiled why he hated her, and what she did all those years ago.
There was a devastating twist though, as Moira quickly revealed his version of events were a lie.
She then claimed that what he knew was not the truth, and someone else was involved.
Aged 18, Moira was accused of sleeping with her father's best friend Tony, who was married with children.
She soon fled as the two families were torn apart, with her sibling accusing her of leaving him to pick up the pieces.
It very quickly emerged though that their mother, who passed away last month it was revealed, was the victim of an abusive marriage at the hands of their father.
Moira then revealed her side of the story, and explained why she really fled her family all those years ago.
She told a stunned Mackenzie that she hadn't had a fling with Tony it all - it was their mother having the affair, with her not happy with her life with her violent husband.
Moira went on to claim that she took the blame for her mother, knowing their father would have killed her if she was exposed.
She decided to flee, believing she was doing what was best for her mum who went along with the story clearly terrified.
But Mackenzie didn't believe her, calling her a liar before confessing her mum still faced abuse from their dad after she ran away.
He then stormed off leaving a tearful Moira distressed over his confession, yet clearly she was relieved to finally have exposed what went on.
Will he come around though, or is there more to be revealed?
Viewers were stunned to learn what Moira had been hiding all this time, and the reason for her ditching her family all those years ago.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
