Emmerdale's Mike Parr lands Hollywood role two years after leaving the soap

Mike Parr has landed his first Hollywood movie role after leaving the set of Emmerdale .

The former soap actor has set his sights on the silver screen after he left the ITV show in 2018.

The 33-year-old, who formerly played the character of Ross Barton, will now be starring in the U.S feature film Our Home.

According to The Sun , the plot will follow a young writer called Rachel Woods who returns to her hometown while looking for inspiration.

Mike has reportedly been cast as Rachel’s uncle Adam Woods.

The actor’s L.A debut - although it appears to just be a supporting role - has been a long time coming after he announced he was quitting Emmerdale to head over to Hollywood two years ago.

The actor left the set of Emmerdale in 2018 and one year later he moved to the United States (ITV)

At the time of his departure from the hit soap, the St. Helens native admitted that he was daunted by the thought of looking for another job.

“Leaving Emmerdale is scary; this is the first time since the age of 14 that I’ve not had a job, but it’s also exciting,” he said.

He also vowed to ditch the soap roles for grittier story lines and was looking for an LA agent to make it happen.

“The kind of roles I’m looking forward to are still the baddie, but different kinds of storylines – maybe in an HBO box set or a Netflix show,” he told a local Merseyside newspaper.

In 2019, however, the star was yet to make it big in the bright lights of Los Angeles and instead was cast in the Sky One drama Bulletproof.

He finally made the big move to America during last year and appears to be enjoying the sunnier lifestyle of the west coast.

Taking to social media today, the actor also posted a photograph of a script for the movie Mister Mayfair.

“Here we go!!! Day 1” he wrote across the picture for the movie which is currently in post production.
