Emmerdale’s Michelle Hardwick and Kate Brooks welcome baby son and have given him the cutest name

Emmerdale 's Michelle Hardwick and her partner Kate Brooks were over the moon as they welcomed a baby boy into the world this week.

The actress shared her happy news with her followers on Instagram on Sunday and revealed that she and Kate decided to name their son Edward but said they will nickname him 'Teddy'.

And in the first snap, the proud mothers can be seen cradling little Teddy just moments after he was born, with Michelle beaming from ear to ear, she wrote: "On Friday 9th October, this handsome little chap entered the world. Edward “Teddy” Peter Brooks we are so in love with you.  #ourlittleTeddyboy."

Steps Faye Tozer Smith was one of the first to congratulate them. She said: "CONGRATULATIONS!!! Welcome to the world little Teddy! So much love to you all."

And fellow Emmerdale star Charley Webb wrote: "Beautiful."

While Catherine Tyldesley also shared her congratulations. She said: "Oh my darlings!!! So beautiful!!!! Congratulations."

Kate and Michelle tied the knot and now they have become parents for the first time.

They were married at Elvis' home at Graceland last year.

Within months of dating, the couple were engaged to get married in 2018.

Sparks started flying when they first crossed paths on the soap set together.

Earlier this year, Michelle opened up about her exit as Vanessa Woodfield so she could go on maternity leave.

Her character Vanessa was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer.

In the heartbreaking storyline, she got her girlfriend Charity to adopt son Johnny incase of the worst case scenario.

She told  Metro : "Charity adopting Johnny is a massive step in their relationship.

"Obviously with me not being onscreen for the foreseeable due to my pregnancy, the story will continue going forward as Charity navigates her life and parenthood in the absence of Vanessa."
