Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden accidentally 'confirms' David will survive Meena’s wrath

This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby appeared to trick Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden into giving away a spoiler on Tuesday.

The TV duo invited the actor onto the ITV show via video link to discuss this week's explosive episodes which will see Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) murder someone.

Matthew's character David Metcalfe has been enjoying a relationship with Meena, but in recent weeks her behaviour has become rather possessive and she's jealous of David's relationship with his son Jacob.

ITV have already confirmed that Meena will kill someone in the village - but they're remaining tight-lipped about who that will be.

Speaking to Holly and Phil, Matthew began: "Basically if there’s a serial killer in the village, no one is safe. I can’t tell you who it’s gonna be, I can’t say a word!"

He continued: "Meena is such a dark character, she’s a bit of a bunny boiler. I think David could definitely be in for it!"

Mum-of-three Holly then decided to run a fan theory past Matthew, which predicts that perhaps Meena will convince David to join forces with her.

"The problem with murdering on a soap is you're never going to last very long on there," Matthew replied.

"You can't be a serial killer, or a serial killer's righthand man, without there being a sticky end so I'm hoping that's not going to happen."

"Uh, he's not dead!" Phillip quickly remarked as Holly giggled.

"You fell into that hole, we did not lead you into it!" Phillip added as Matthew, 41, looked rather flustered.

However, Emmerdale fans are able to watch Thursday's explosive episode already as all of the week's instalments are on ITV Hub now due to the football.

Sinister scenes will see Meena confront the person in question as her true, killer personality is exposed.

Other villagers and family members will be left devastated by the death of the victim, who the Mirror will not be naming until it airs onscreen.

Yet this looks like just the beginning for the villainous nurse, who could become the soap's very first serial killer.
