Emmerdale's Mackenzie to be arrested over Caleb attack as Chloe doubts his innocence

Mackenzie Boyd is facing arrest in the aftermath of Caleb Milligan's attempted murder in Emmerdale next week.

Things take a turn for the worst for Mackenzie following Caleb's attack as he becomes the police's prime suspect after his alibi fell through. Caleb has made no shortage of enemies in recent weeks but Mackenzie is gunning for him after he spent a drunken night with Charity Dingle.

While Mackenzie and Charity have separated after she found out he was the father of Chloe's baby Reuben, he couldn't contain his jealousy when he found out his estranged wife had moved on. Mack is noticeably raging after he finds out about Caleb and Charity's drunken romp, and doesn't try to hide his fury.

While Caleb's attacker wasn't successful in killing him immediately, he remains in a coma as the Dingle clan wait by his bedside for any updates.

Chloe soon becomes suspicious of Mack following the attack, despite their blossoming romance. The police soon catch onto Mack's motive for the attack, and turn their eyes to their new number one suspect.

When Mack Boyd's alibi doesn't add up, and with Chloe failing to corroborate his story, the police arrest (ITV)

During his initial questioning, Mack doesn't help himself as he's increasingly uncooperative and provides a false alibi. After Chloe fails to back up his alibi, the police swoop in and arrest Mack for the attack.

Lawrence Robb, who plays Mackenzie, recently teased: "I think anyone in Emmerdale has it in them to be a killer. Mack definitely is troubled and estranged enough to 'push' the limits of what he's capable of, but that will remain to be seen.

"No-one wants to be a suspect of anything, least of all for murder or attempted murder. Whether Mack is guilty or not, I don't think it's going to go down well for him. But he doesn't have an alibi and he's still furious with Caleb."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
