Emmerdale aired moving scenes on Friday night, as Luke's shocking secret about his possible involvement in his brother Lee's death came to light.
Luke also opened up to his mother Wendy about his sexuality, after denying he liked men after newcomer Ethan claimed he had dated his flatmate Steven.
In an honest confession, Luke revealed this was in fact true and that they were in love, with Luke planning on telling Wendy all about him back in 2019.
But his homophobic brother violently attacked him because of who he was and who he loved, in a horrific attack that could have killed him.

Luke emotionally detailed the moment his brother put his hand around his throat and beat him, before shoving him against a wall and threatening to murder him - telling him he'd be better off dead.
Wendy was devastated over Lee's true colours, and the fact Luke had continued to hide his true self in the fallout in fear.
But it's what Luke confessed next that left her alarmed and worried, with him admitting he fought back and ended up leaving his brother unconscious.

Lee is said to have fallen backwards when Luke shoved him, with him hitting his head and losing consciousness for a short while.
It was just hours later, as Lee left and threatened to have his own brother killed after the unprovoked attack, that he crossed paths with Robert Sugden - the brother of Victoria who Lee had raped months earlier.
Robert ended up attacking Lee, only for him to die from his injuries days later.

As soon as Wendy heard his confession, it clocked with her that Lee might have already sustained a head injury before Robert hit him.
So was Robert entirely to blame for Lee's death, or does Luke's confession mean Lee was already badly injured and that maybe he would have survived if this had not happened prior to the incident with Robert?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode on Thursdays at 8pm.
