Emmerdale's Lorraine Chase suing for £100k over TV accident which ended panto career

Emmerdale star Lorraine Chase is suing for £100,000 over a reality TV accident she says ended her panto career.

She was starring with Debbie McGee, Simon Callow and Nigel Havers in Channel 5’s in Channel 5’s “Carry on Barging” in 2016 when she hurt her back abseiling.

Lorraine, 69, blames her instructor from adventure company TNR Coaching Ltd for letting out the rope too far and causing her to fall.

But the company says Lorraine had ignored her instructions.

Barrister David White told Central London county court that the accident wrecked Lorraine’s career in panto.

She struck a rock ledge whilst falling at the site in Wales, causing injuries to her neck and back, and has since retired.

He said: “She continues to have symptoms which impact on her ability to perform and work.”

Lorraine’s claim, said to be worth up to £100,000, is due to go before a judge later.

The ex-model shot to fame in the 70s as the “Luton Airport girl” when she appeared in iconic Campari adverts which played on her Cockney accent.

Asked if she had been “wafted in from paradise,” Lorraine famously replied: “Nah, Luton Airport.”

She went on to star in Blankety Blank, Worzil Gummidge and as Steph Stokes in Emmerdale.

She also featured in reality TV shows including Come Dine With Me and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
