Emmerdale's Lisa Riley warns she 'looks like Alice Cooper' in upcoming episodes

Actress Lisa Riley has warned soap fans she “looks like Alice Cooper” in upcoming Emmerdale scenes.

Like the majority of TV filming at the moment there are no make-up artists allowed on set.

Lisa, 44, has some dramatic and emotional moments and says her make-up keeps running.

She said: “Last week we had 11 Dingle scenes back to back, three of which were high emotion.

“You’re used to someone going, ‘here’s a tissue’ and not looking like Alice Cooper with a lash off.”

Lisa plays Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap who is in an on-off romance with Paul Ashdale ( Reece Dinsdale ). The storyline for the coming weeks will see him try to win Mandy back.

Mandy was originally introduced on the Yorkshire-based show back in July 1995 as an extension of the established Dingle clan.

Her main storylines in her first stint included her marriage to cousin Butch Dingle and then to vet Paddy Kirk.

However, Mandy infidelity with a lecturer at a college course in Hotten led to their relationship breaking down and her departure from the soap in September 2000.

Mandy briefly returned in 2001 to reconcile with Paddy but he had moved on with Butch's widow, Emily.

After a brief guest stint in 2018, Lisa Riley agreed to reprise the role as the bubbly Dingle full-time in 2019.

Mandy returned with a son in tow - Vinnie (Bradley Johnson) - who was later revealed to be the son of her ex Paul and not her biological son.

Riley and Johnson starred in a two-hander episode earlier this year as one of the instalments during the coronavirus lockdown.

In her own personal life, Riley has admitted that her recent weight loss has led to an improvement in her sex life with her fiancé, Al, who she met in 2012.

Speaking on the Events That Made Me podcast, Lisa revealed: "Absolutely it's changed! Tell me about it, believe me, that’s a very good point."

Emmerdale continues on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
