Emmerdale's Lisa Riley shares IVF heartbreak and how she came to terms with not having children

Emmerdale's Lisa Riley says she has made peace with not having children following her IVF heartbreak.

She revealed that her fiancé Al told her he "lost the girl he fell in love with" during the time they were trying IVF, in a new heartbreaking interview.

The couple went through fertility treatment around three years ago in 2018 but decided not to put themselves through the heartbreak again.

Instead, Lisa and partner Al have found comfort in their beautiful life together.

The 44-year-old soap star said she was "so lucky" and felt blessed to have such a wonderful life.

She told Closer magazine : "Al would never want me to go through IVF again because he said he lost the girl he fell in love with.

"I am so blessed with my wonderful nephews and nieces and godchildren and we have taken full ownership of our life. I may not have 2.4 kids and a dog but I have a beautiful bloody life. I wouldn't change it for the world, I'm so lucky."

Lisa channelled some of her heartbreak into her work life through her on-screen character Mandy Dingle.

In a huge story-line last year, Mandy revealed a history of suffering from a miscarriage.

The Emmerdale legend, who took an 18 month in 2019, said her heart was broken over the overwhelming response she's had from women with sharing their own stories of heartbreak.

She added: "I have had such an incredible response from women. It would break your heart and I try to personally reply to each and everyone who has contacted me."

Lisa is well recognised for her iconic character Mandy Dingle, of whom she has played since 1995.

However, her partner Al very much keeps out of the spotlight and prefers a quieter life.

Lisa has previously said she wanted to keep Al all to herself as she keeps her relationship quite private.

Speaking previously about why she chooses to keep her partner out of the public eye, Lisa said: "Everyone deserves a somebody, and I've had so many rubbish somebodies that I want to keep this one for me. He's mine.
