Emmerdale's Kelvin Fletcher admits he's 'struggling' in emotional career update

Emmerdale's Kelvin Fletcher has admitted he's "struggling to find work" at the moment in an emotional career update.

The 37-year-old actor is best known to fans for his portrayal of Andy Sugden in the long-running soap.

The Strictly Come Dancing winner quit the soap in 2016 - and he has opened up on his current situation during an Instagram Live with his fans.

Kelvin revealed how tough the acting industry can be after a friend contacted him to say she was tired of receiving constant rejections - as Mirror Online reports.

He said: "So I know how frustrating those little selfies are, because I've been that person thinking, 'Are they even working now.

"Let me tell you, I've had about 10 nos in these last few months."

However, Kelvin revealed the important of persistence after he overcome the rejections to bag himself a new TV role.

He said: "So, keep the faith. Patience is key, as I always say,

"It's only a little gig, so don't be getting too bothered."

"For all those out there who, like me, are sick of hearing the nos, I'm sure I'm going to get a lot more nos after this one.

He added: "But I'm enjoying this while it is. Thus, the obligatory trailer selfie. It's obviously p***ed off quite a few people - enjoy!"

Kelvin is set to star in a new Channel 5 drama alongside Sheridan Smith.

Teacher is a psychological thriller which follows Jenna, a state schoolteacher, whose life unravels after being accused of a drunken sexual encounter with one of her pupils.

With no memory of the night in question, Jenna's only hope of redemption lies in uncovering the truth about a dark event in her past that returns to haunt her.

Sheridan, 39, will play Jenna, while actor Samuel Bottomley will star opposite Sheridan as the pupil at the centre of the sexual encounter Jenna finds herself in.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
