An Emmerdale favourite has discussed how she was offered an opportunity for her character to return to the soap from beyond the grave.
As Emmerdale viewers will likely remember Katie Sugden died in the show back in 2015 when she fell to her death during an argument with Robert Sugden.
Appearing on ITV’s Loose Women star Sammy Winward, who played Katie, revealed she was offered the chance to return to Emmerdale as a ghost.

“Interestingly enough, I was asked to go back as a ghost,” Sammy explained.
“I said no, but not in a huffy way – I just didn’t really fancy it.”
Sammy joked about how the character might have appeared had she agreed to the role.

She laughed: “I was imagining myself in a white sheet with eye holes cut out.’
Sammy has disappointed fans by stating she doesn’t see a way Katie could return to Emmerdale - understandable given the character is dead.
The acting star concluded: “I don’t think there’s any way I could come back unless I took them up on the story of going back as a ghost.”
