Emmerdale's Daisy Campbell's axe fears, inspirational soap 'nan' and glam 'brat pack' life

Despite her youthful age Daisy Campbell is one of the long-serving members of the Emmerdale cast.

Daisy Campbell, 19, joined Emmerdale back in 2011. She’s one of many young rising stars of the soap, with the collective somewhat affectionately, known as the ‘brat pack’.

This consists of Daisy alongside Rosie Bentham, 21, Katie Hill, 20, Sam Hall, 18, Jack Downham, 21, and Joe-Warren Plant, 21. A quick weekend Instagram check and you will often see the stars out on the town together enjoying glam nights out.

As part of our series of features looking into the lives of our Emmerdale faves, away from the village, we are going to tell you a little more about Daisy Campbell. From her early beginnings, Leeds connections and her inspiration on-set.

So, take a scroll below and find out more about the Amelia Spencer acting star.

Early life

Raised in Leeds, Daisy was born in 2003, with her family having strong links to Methley. In her early life, Daisy attended Scala School of Performing Arts and attended Rebel Acting School. She then landed the role of Amelia Spencer in Emmerdale back in May 2011.

Daisy has spent her TV career in Emmerdale although she did pop up in Coronation Street back in 2021. It came as a part of an environmental campaign overseen by ITV where characters from their soaps Emmerdale and Corrie crossed over.

In the latter, Gary and Maria Windass were enthralled by a 'Doctor Dig' viral video starring Emmerdale's Liam Cavanagh and Amelia Spencer dancing on their community allotment.

Axe fears

In the last year, Emmerdale has said goodbye to characters played by Michael Wildman and Katherine Dow Blyton as they were killed off in the soap’s 50th anniversary storylines. At the start of 2023, Fiona Wade and Darcy Grey also both left the soap. Emmerdale stars tend to work year-to-year contracts. So, the soap’s acting stars are often wondering what might be coming around the corner.

Discussing the life of a soap star, talking to The Sun, Daisy said: “I’d love to stay on it for as long as I can. I recently signed for another year and couldn’t be happier.

“But I never take it for granted because you never know when they might kill you off. It can happen to anyone.”

Emmerdale Idol’s influence

Daisy has made no secret of the fact Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle in Emmerdale, is a massive support to the soap’s younger cast members. Daisy explained: “Lisa brings so much positive energy to everything she does.

“They call her ‘nana’ at work because she’s always there for advice. She’s been my go-to recently.

“But everyone there is so inspirational. Growing up on the show, they helped me learn lines and gave me advice. We really are such a big family.”
