Emmerdale's Chas Dingle affair finally 'exposed' as Belle grows suspicious

Emmerdale's Chas Dingle's affair with the late Al Chapman could finally be exposed next week.

Only a few people know so far about Chas' (Lucy Pargeter) infidelity, including her brother Cain ( Jeff Hordley ). When her mother Faith Dingle ( Sally Dexter ) died, Chas was at a hotel with businessman Al ( Michael Wildman ).

After Faith's death, an angry Cain found out about Chas and Al's affair and called the businessman to confront him on their liaison. However, chaos soon ensued as Cain's son Kyle Winchester had followed him there and pulled the trigger on the gun, accidentally killing Al and causing a chain of events that saw Cain end up in prison.

Chas' reaction makes Belle suspicious (ITV)

As the Dingle family are still reeling from the past few weeks, Charity updated Belle on what Chloe Harris has been doing - and how she's been desperately trying to work out who Al had been having an affair with.

After steers from Chas, she's convinced it's Moira - but as Moira and Amy have much more stressful things on their mind as they try and keep Kyle's secret from coming out, Amy encourages Chloe to drop her line of questioning.

The identity of Al's mistress is still unknown to most - but viewers know it's Chas (ITV)

Belle teases Chas about cheating on Paddy and Belle immediately gets suspicious as she notices how cagey Chas seems about it all. Suspicious, Belle quizzes Chas on a possible relationship with Al, but she denies.

Lucy previously revealed her character has become hated because of Chas' romance with Al.

She said of the backlash: "People are really, really not liking them together and you have got the cheerleaders for Al and Chas, but you've definitely got the absolute haters for Chas, and what she is doing to Paddy and the reasons behind what she is doing with Al.

"I hate what she's doing. We were never gonna win people over to Al and Chas when Paddy was involved."

Before his exit from the soap, Al actor Michael Wildman also had his say on the viewer reaction to his character and the latest storyline - insisting Al did have genuine feelings for Chas.

"They love to hate him. It's an awkward situation to be in. It's much easier for him because he’s got less to lose. Chas is married and she’s got a kid so I'm generally met with a raised eyebrow, and someone will say to me he's a naughty boy isn't he, but his love is genuine for Chas, I don't think there’s two ways about it," he said of the recent storyline.
