Emmerdale's Cain Dingle 'could reunite with Moira' after cryptic clue is dropped

Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordely) is not a character that is one to upset in Emmerdale and his split from wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) looked as final as it could be.

The main reason was down to her having an affair with farm hand Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), who turned out to be Cain's estranged son and, therefore, Moira's stepson.

Cain was humiliated, especially as Nate led Moira to cheat as payback to the head Dingle after he had turned his back on Nate when he was a newborn.

In revenge for having an affair, Cain kept son Isaac who he shared with Moira as well as Kyle, who she had helped raise.

The divorce papers led Moira reaching for the bottle for comfort and she quickly developed an alcohol problem which put her at loggerheads with a number of villagers.

She then left Emmerdale in the hope of sorting herself out and proving that she is a worthy mother.

On her return, the estranged couple's relationship appears less strained and fans of the ITV soap are begging for them to get back together.

On Friday, the pair reminisce over items from their marriage as Cain speaks about his troubles with DI Malone.

Cain then asks Moira for an alcoholic drink, only to be offered a cup of tea in return as she continues her abstinence from anything stronger than a cuppa.

Moira said to Cain: "Feel free to hit the pub when we’re done it’s my turn to have the boys anyway."

Thinking that she was having a dig, Cain hit back: "You can’t throw stones."

Moira countered: “I’m not. It’s obvious there’s something wrong, you wanting to have a drink with me for a start.

“Look, everything’s changed, I know that, but I’d like to think we could still talk for the kids' sake if nothing else."

As she goes through boxes of their belongings, Cain suddenly opened up about his problems and with it there were the first shoots of reconciliation.

Speaking honestly to his soon-to-be-divorced wife, there was a look on Cain's face which has been interpreted by fans as his first longing to get back the relationship they used to have.

After Malone had targeted the farm as a message to Cain, it was too close to comfort for him and he had taken steps to ensure that he won't come near there again.

Cain said: “They won’t come back. I will not let anything happen to you or the boys. I promise you divorce won’t change that, it never will.”

The protective arm of Cain could be enough to show that not all is lost for them - all he has to do now is get over the humiliating reason why they have ended up with divorce papers being served.

*Emmerdale returns on Monday to ITV at 7pm.
