Emmerdale's Samantha Giles returned to the ITV soap this week in her role as Bernice Blackstock.
But after leaving almost two years ago things are very different on set with filming due to the coronavirus pandemic, with cast having to do their own hair and makeup.
Actress Samantha discussed with the show's hair and makeup department her worries about doing her own hair, with her explaining she "couldn't do anything with it".
Being quite thick and "wiry", Samantha said she struggled to style her own hair, and given Bernice is a hairdresser on the show she decided it would be better to have a wig - as agreed by the team.
But some viewers have apparently slated her for wearing a wig, following her comeback.
Now, the actress has spoken to This Morning about the "flak" she got in recent episodes for the new look, with host Alison Hammond hitting out at the haters.
Alison asked: "The question on everyone's lips, is she wearing a wig?"
Sam responded: "It's been a nightmare this wig business. Yes, I am wearing a wig."
It's then that Alison told her: "What is the big deal, what does it matter if she's wearing a wig or not?"
Sam went on: "I know, I've had a lot of flak about it actually. The thing is my own hair is very, very thick and wiry and not like Bernice at all. She's a hairdresser."
Speaking previously about the decision, Samantha told The Mirror: "I’ve got very very thick, wiry, frizzy hair! I can’t do it myself. I just can’t do it!
"Obviously Bernice is a hairdresser so she is not going to be seen looking anything less than having her coiffed look, if you like!
"So, that has all been really hard!"
