Emmerdale's armed police stand-off ends in twist - but fans spot major gaffe

Emmerdale exploded into action tonight as Billy and the gang were confronted by armed police.

Nasty Max had forced Billy to take part in a raid and his crew created a roadblock so they could steal money from a security van.

The whole operation went drastically wrong when armed police turned up on the scene with their own set of guns.

It seemed like Billy's life was over when he was captured by the cops, but in a shock twist it was revealed he tipped them off.

However, viewers spotted a major gaffe as all of the criminals somehow managed to escape.

Emmerdale fans took to Twitter to slam the incompetent police officers.

One viewer said: "That robbery was a shambles from start to finish and how did they all get away apart from Billy"

"The soap police are great at their jobs as usual... the criminals run and they don't have a taser/make any attempt to stop them," added another.

A third said: "These police are rubbish how did they only catch one?

There was then a surprise for viewers when Billy was seen getting out of the car with DS Sanders.

She explained how Billy had tipped the police off about the heist to try and get Max banged up.

DS Sanders said: "Look I’m sorry they got away. But you did the right thing by tipping us off."

Frustrated Billy was angered that the gang had got away and feared Max might know he had grassed him up.

He stupidly decided to take his chances back home and insisted he didn't need to go to a safe house.

The gang met up after fleeing from the police and realised someone had tipped them off.

Max pointed out that only one person was missing from their rendezvous.

The crime boss said: "I hope he’s enjoying his last night alive."

Will Max kill Billy?
