Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh has discussed what is ahead for Tracy Metcalfe, as her battle with postnatal depression becomes clear to those around her.
While her recent struggles following the birth of baby daughter Frankie earlier this year have so far been missed, her loved ones grow concerned next week when she goes missing.
It soon becomes clear that Tracy needs help, and her partner Nate Robinson is forced to step up to help her after realising something is not right.
Speaking to The Mirror and other press, actress Amy shared her thoughts on whether Nate and Tracy could survive as she opens up on her struggles.
Amy revealed that Nate would "step up" to support her and care for their baby daughter Frankie, as Tracy gets the help she desperately needs.
She said: "I don't know, it's a funny one because she would have to admit that she had those thoughts about potentially not being here, and taking Frankie with her.
"It's a massive moment for her. She doesn't say it to him but he hears it, and she is so full of shame when she knows that he knows that.
"But he's still fighting for them, he steps up. He is a great dad and a great partner, it is good to see that support but it is hard."
On the turning point that encourages Tracy to seek help for her condition, Amy revealed all on the moment Faith Dingle tells the new mum that she believes she may have postnatal depression.
She told us: "It's that moment of someone else telling you and then it is okay almost. It is a very comforting moment from Faith for Tracy, and she promises that she is gonna get help.
"For Tracy, the one stipulation almost of that agreement is 'as long as I don't need to be near the baby'.
"It is very apparent that she is not ready to deal with that side of it yet, but she needs to speak to Nate and get help."
She added: "She might be aware that it is not quite normal, her behaviour, but I don't think until someone says it out loud she would ever admit it was a clinical thing.
"She just thinks, "Oh I'm not coping, it's me, I am not good enough'."
But the storyline will be a story "of hope" for Tracy and for viewers, with Amy revealing the importance of showing that women with the condition can get through it.
She explained: "It's always been important for us to tell the story as a story of hope.
"We have to tell the story that women do come through this because they do, and it is better to open up and speak out and get help and then move on from it. So we will see Tracy do that.
"It's hard, it’s not easy for her and it's messy but it is a slow process to be happy again, hopefully eventually we will see her happy again but she does get help.
"It's important to show what's out there as well, to help these women who are suffering."
Emmerdale airs every night at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
