Emmerdale's Amy Walsh announces birth of child with Eastenders star Toby-Alexander Smith

Emmerdale Amy Walsh along with her partner Eastenders' star Toby-Alexander Smith delighted soap fans as they announced the safe arrival of their first child.

The soapland favourites confirmed the news to OK!, telling the magazine: "Well…it’s been a busy week! Hope you all had a good one. HAPPY NEW YEAR from the three of us."

Sharing an adorable snap of themselves pushing a pram and looking lovingly at their newborn, Emmerdale star Amy, 34, and EastEnders actor, 31, are clearly revelling becoming parents.

Amy, who is the sister of Girls Aloud star Kimberley, said in November that she felt like she was "made" to give birth.

Kimberley even revealed she had packed Amy's hospital bag, with the mum of three giving her younger sister plenty of advice.

Amy said in November: "I feel weirdly excited about it.

"I’m sure everyone who’s been through it reading this will laugh but it’s something I’ve always wanted to experience."

She continued: "I’ve always felt I was made to do it. I’m very aware of how scary it could be so I know it won’t be a bed of roses, but what I’m most looking forward to is going through that journey with Toby."

The pregnancy was announced by Amy, who plays Tracy Metcalfe, and Toby, who plays Gray Atkins in his soap back in September.

She told OK! magazine at the time: "It feels as though the way everything happened was meant to be. I thought I might struggle with fertility, so for pregnancy to happen quite easily and when I wanted – I was gobsmacked. We feel incredibly lucky..."

Amy had revealed how she thought she might never become a mum after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries when she was 20.

She said: "I always thought falling pregnant was going to be a battle. Toby knew how worried I was, especially as I’m a bit older.

"I did wonder if it would ever happen for me, so it feels like a blessing."

Toby added: "There’s never a perfect time. You could always think, 'We could do with a bigger house or investing more time in our careers,' but if you’ve met the right person then that’s it."
