An Emmerdale bad boy has opened up on the backlash he’s received from viewers following his character’s ‘awful’ behaviour.
Alex Lincoln, who plays Jamie Tate in Emmerdale , appeared on panel show Loose Women to offer a hint of what is coming up. The ongoing storyline follows Jamie, Gabby Thomas and Dawn Taylor.
Many viewers have been shocked watching Jamie attempt to wriggle out of parenthood. This is because Gabby’s pregnancy would ruin his chances of a relationship with Dawn Taylor. Jamie has been pushing Gabby towards having an abortion.

Alex, 27, said: “I think a lot of viewers will find Jamie’s behaviour just awful - which it is. He is trying to manipulate Gabby into essentially not having the baby. It goes back and forth quite a lot.”
The actor has seen Jamie worm his way out of a number of sticky situations during his two years on the ITV soap.
Asked about the response from Emmerdale fans, Alex, said: “Nobody has chucked anything at me in a while. Online a lot of people are finding Jamie’s behaviour okay.
“This is interesting. They are seeing Gabby, in some lights, as the manipulative one which is interesting. Gabby comes in under Kim’s (Claire King) wing and takes the role as the head of the family - in the next aspect of the Tate dynasty.
“He feels put down that his mum is so on the side of Gabby and not his.”
