Emmerdale's Adam Thomas shares health update amid Waterloo Road excitement

Emmerdale star Adam Thomas confirmed this week he will be returning to an old acting venture.

Yesterday he established he would be returning to BBC's Waterloo Road, as Donte Charles, six years after it was taken off air.

He reunited with fellow cast member Katie Griffiths, who is returning as Chlo Charles, and Angela Griffin, who will reprise her role of Kim Campbell as the actors read over their new scripts.

Fans were overjoyed with the news of the return of the popular Manchester based school drama and flooded Adam with messages of support and encouragement.

After sharing some of these messages on his Instagram stories, the 33-year-old posted a video clip of a heartfelt message to his fans and followers.

On it he revealed he had been ill lately and couldn't get out of bed so the response was just what he needed to cheer him up.

He said: "I just want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart, it really does mean a lot. All your messages and other support has really put a big smile on my face,

And I've really needed it because I've been in bed for the last couple of days, not feeling too well. Been feeling sorry for myself and it's really cheered me up."

He continued: "It's happening guys - Donte is going back to Waterloo Road. I can't believe it.

"I'm absolutely over the moon. I know my energy right now doesn't feel like it but I'm not well.

"I can not wait for you guys to see the new series of Waterloo Road coming soon to BBC One. Lots of love guys."

It was announced in September the BBC school-based series was returning after six years.

Waterloo Road last aired in March 2015, three years after they moved filming from Greater Manchester to Scotland.

But the BBC revealed the new series of the award-winning Waterloo Road will be set and made in Greater Manchester once again.
