Emmerdale's Adam Thomas addresses rumours he is joining Strictly Come Dancing

Former Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has addressed rumours that he will be joining hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing when it returns this Autumn.

It comes after it was reported that the 33-year-old actor, who left the Dales in early 2018, was set to be the first celebrity dancer to sign up to take part in the competition.

However, Adam, who is currently filming the new series of drama Waterloo Road, reprising the role of Donte, has denied the rumours and said it is unfortunately not true.

The dad-of-two is no stranger to reality TV and went on to finish third in I'm a Celebrity in 2016 following his departure from the Dales, however, it seems he is not ready to compete for the Strictly Come Dancing glitterball trophy just yet.

Adam took to his Instagram stories to clear up any confusion, he shared a screenshot of an article from The Sun and added the caption: "As much as I'd love this to be true, unfortunately it is not haha" followed by a laughing face emoji.

It was claimed Strictly bosses also wanted to sign his older brother Ryan, who played Jason Grimshaw on Coronation Street for 16 years, reports The Sun.

Ryan's daughter Scarlett will star alongside her uncle in the popular BBC drama's revival to play his daughter Izzy. And keeping it in the family, Adam's own young son Teddy has been cast as Izzy's brother.

Adam's twin brother Scott appeared as a contestant on the second series of Love Island in 2016 and currently runs his own PR company while in 2020 all three brothers featured together in their own ITV travel show, Mancs In Mumbai with their late father, Dougie.

Other celebs rumoured to be appearing on the 21st series of the dancing contest in the autumn include Leeds-based Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton, who recently split up with her Leeds Rhinos ace husband Richie Myler. While the line-up could also see Paige Sandhu put on her dancing shoes after leaving Emmerdale.

TV chef Gino D’Acampo, who won I'm A Celebrity in 2009, is also another rumoured entrant for the latest series. Deaf EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice are the reigning champions.
