Emmerdale return sends shockwaves around village after unforgivable betrayal

Emmerdale aired a big surprise for residents on Thursday night, as one character made a swift return to the village.

Debbie Dingle and Priya Sharma, amongst others, were glad to see the back of Al Chapman after his cheating ways were exposed.

Al was chased out of the village on Wednesday night, seeking a new line of work in Belfast after money drama.

But just a day later, and Al is back in the village.

The character made a quick return to the Dales in the latest episode, leaving many stunned and annoyed.

Al revealed he was back for his son Ellis, not wanting to leave things on bad terms.

Despite having nothing and being an enemy of several residents, Al took his chances for his son's sake.

He told his son that he couldn't get on the ferry, and had to return to fix his fractured relationship.

But the news did not impress those who wanted him out the way.

Priya was furious to see him return, while Ellis' brother Billy also fumed over his sudden comeback.

The Dingles, including Debbie's parents Cain and Charity, also wanted to make him pay for him cheating on their daughter - while she said she wasn't bothered he was back.

New spoilers tease Al will work on Priya, desperate to clear his name over the missing money from the business.

Debbie and Priya stole it and set him up, but will he manage to prove this to Kim?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
