David Metcalfe was confirmed as groomer Maya Stepney's baby daddy on Emmerdale this evening, but fans have predicted a worrying twist in store.
A baby was left on the Metcalfes' doorstep and after they realised it was Maya, they feared that teen Jacob Gallagher could be the dad.
Before doing the DNA test, David attempted to tell Dr Cavanagh to forge the results so that he was the dad.
So, while initially glad about the result, some fans are worried that the news that the baby's dad is David is too good to be true.
Fans also pointed out that David has previously suffered from fertility issues.
One tweeted: "Are we sure the baby is David's? Isn't he infertile from chemo? #Emmerdale."
While another commented: "Still think the baby his Jacob? Don’t believe that DNA results after David asked the Liam to switch it, because of Jacob!!#Emmerdale."
A third questioned: "Is the baby really David's though? Didn't he ask Liam to fake the results? #Emmerdale."
"And the baby daddy is ......... David!! Except I don't believe it. #emmerdale," another quipped.
