Emmerdale: Noah and Jamie's Tate family link explained after uncle comment

Emmerdale's Jamie Tate was far from impressed when Noah Dingle referred to him as 'Uncle Jamie' in the latest episode of the ITV soap.

But he's not exactly wrong to call him this, given the pair are actually related and are part of the same family tree.

Soap families and their dynasties are often very confusing, but this time around it is actually pretty simple.

Jamie is in fact the uncle of Charity Dingle's son Noah, as his father is the late Chris Tate.

Chris and Jamie, while having different mothers, both shared the same father - Kim's ex Frank Tate.

While they were half siblings, Jamie is still the uncle of Chris' son Noah and Noah's half-brother Joe Tate.

This also means Noah is the cousin of Jamie's daughter Millie, and Gabby Thomas' unborn baby.

That said there isn't much loyalty or love for Noah, with Jamie simply paying him to get dirt on Gabby.

It's probably for the best given the Tates' long-running feud with the Dingles, which only worsened recently.

Jamie ran over and almost killed Moira Dingle in a hit-and-run, before pinning the crime on Belle Dingle and Nate Robinson.

So it leaves the question of why Noah is even helping Jamie in the first place!

But it was good of the soap to acknowledge their relation in the latest episode, as it isn't often mentioned.

While many fans were already aware of the link, others did question the comments unsure if they were actually relatives.

Whether Noah will stick to Jamie's plan against Gabby remains to be seen!

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
