Emmerdale newcomer explains Mackenzie's sudden arrival amid Moira Dingle secret

Emmerdale's Lawrence Robb has teased the reason for his character Mackenzie heading to the village.

Moira Dingle gets the shock of her life when she comes face-to-face with her estranged brother in upcoming scenes.

There's a "dark" family secret brewing, which is all linked to the reason Moira has never mentioned him or her family on the ITV soap before.

Something led to her running away and never looking back, while her secret is yet to be exposed to viewers.

Moira will be upset to learn her brother despises her, with it clear he knows a different version of events of their past.

But can they get over their history, and find a way to move on?

Speaking to Mirror online, actor Lawrence teased the reason for their estrangement, but also why he has showed up in the village now.

He explained: "Mackenzie is obviously Moira’s brother. He’s come in with a bit of a chip on his shoulder.

"He’s got a big story about Moira’s past which I won’t go into detail on.

"He's angry with Moira and he's decided he wanted to come in and cause havoc for her, and make her life difficult.

Emmerdale's Moira Dingle actress Natalie J. Robb confirmed her character had fled something in her past (ITV)

"In his eyes she has been living the high life easy, the four by four, a nice big farm, and I come in and say actually no, you’ve got family and some issues to deal with first."

Lawrence went on: "He really doesn't like her. He's got something to tell Moira, and he's come with a message to tell her.

"He will inevitably tell her but at this stage he's coming in and he wants to cause havoc for her, and make her life as difficult as he can.

"He's got a lot of resentment to her because she left him when he was younger."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
